Get faster on 6 hours a week. No FTP tests.
Hour Power estimates the power you can hold for an hour from the rides you already do, and builds a week that fits around work and family.
A coach's judgement, without a coach's demands or price.
Most amateur riders don't need more data. They need one honest number, a reason to train, and a plan that survives a sick kid or a late meeting.
The number that matters
Hour power, front and centre, tied to a goal you choose.
Every ride counts
Commutes, club rides and indoor sessions all move the estimate.
Built around your life
The plan fits the hours you have, and life stress counts as load.
Honest and explained
A confidence range and a reason for every change.
Proven on one rider. Now opening to many.
The proof of concept is complete. Hour Power now runs as a hosted app, with each rider's goals, usual week and targets drawn from their own data. Beta riders are joining now, free.
The gap nobody else is filling.
We assessed 16 training products, from adaptive planners to indoor platforms and AI coaches. Three things were missing almost everywhere.
What changes for the rider
| Question | Typical training app | Hour Power |
|---|---|---|
| How do I find my threshold? | Book a ramp or 20-minute test and hope you're fresh. | Keep riding. Every ride can update it. |
| How sure is the number? | A single figure with no error bar. | A range, such as 201 W ± 6 W. |
| Why did it change? | It just did. | Every change comes with a written reason. |
| What happens to my zones? | Overwritten automatically. | You accept or decline each new estimate. |
| What if I miss a week? | Missed sessions stack up. | They're dropped, and a comeback week is built if needed. |
| Where does the plan come from? | Often a black box, sometimes generated by AI. | A published rulebook. Same inputs, same plan. |
| Is it accurate? | Rarely published. | Back-tested, with results shown in the app. |
A companion first, a full planner second.
Many riders already train on an indoor platform or planner. Hour Power starts as the companion that tells them their true hour power, then offers the full plan from the same engine. We'll prove it with published accuracy and watts gained per hour trained, at under half the price.
An estimate you can trust, a plan you can read.
The engine estimates hour power from your rides. The rulebook turns that number, your goal and your available days into a week of training.
From everyday rides to one number.
Three signals combine into one estimate, adjusted toward what you could really hold for 60 minutes.
Critical-power curve
Best 3–30 minute efforts from any ride, fitted to a two-parameter curve. Shorter sprints are ignored.
Heart-rate efficiency
Watts at a fixed heart rate on steady riding, compared with your own history.
Durability
How well your power holds in the last hour of long rides.
A confidence range
Fresh evidence narrows the range; time without it widens it.
A fixed rulebook. No AI at runtime.
Plans come from 20 research-backed rules plus your own data, enforced by automated tests. A selection:
Building the plan
Adapting to what you actually did
For riders whose week is already full.
Amateur cyclists who have outgrown free plans but don't want a coach. They ride before work, after bedtime stories, and on the Sunday long ride they negotiated.
Pick a goal. Import the route.
Set one main goal and any number of smaller ones. Import a GPX file for a finish-time estimate, a fuel plan and a plan built backwards from the date.
What they're tired of
- Test days that wreck a week of training
- Plans that collapse after one missed session
- Numbers that change with no explanation
- Coach prices for generic advice
Where we'll find them
- Local cycling clubs and bunch rides
- Gran fondo and sportive fields
- Strava clubs
- Parent and dad cycling communities
Free in beta. Then 5.99 a month.
Built in Australia to keep good training affordable while the cost of living bites. One price, tax included, in your own currency.
Your hour power estimate and confidence range. No plan.
The full plan, goals, workout player and exports.
Everything in Monthly.
Saves 12.88 a yearSame digits, your currency
The number you see is the number you pay. Where money buys more or less, the price moves by a power of ten to stay close to what A$5.99 buys in Australia.
Bring your bunch. Ride for nothing.
Share your code
Every rider gets a 4-character code in Settings, or a sign-in link that fills it in.
Six subscribe
Your free year starts automatically, or when time you've already paid for runs out.
Keep six
The free year renews while six are subscribed. If some leave, replace them and it starts again.
Free for life
Once six of your riders have each been subscribed for 24 months in total.
No self-referral. Your recommender is set once and locked. You see how many riders joined, never who. Beta riders get codes now, so their mates count from the first day of billing.
Your rides are yours.
A feature that breaks a principle does not ship. The policy is reviewed yearly and whenever scope changes.
You own your data
See, export, correct or delete it at any time.
Collect the minimum
Only what the estimate and plan need.
Honest about uncertainty
Ranges, not false precision.
You stay in control
Accept or decline new zones. Your chosen days come first.
Health before performance
Rules cap intensity and build in recovery.
Fair to every rider
Nothing hard-coded to one athlete.
What we will never do
- Sell, rent or trade your data
- Use it for advertising or profiling
- Show it to another rider without your opt-in
- Send it to AI or outside services to make plans
- Train machine-learning models on it
- Publish your routes or start points
- Keep it after you delete your account or revoke Strava
- Publish accuracy results unless anonymised and aggregated

A billing provider will be added to the policy before subscriptions open, as will any new integration.
If something goes wrong
Leaving the beta deletes your data, and no one is quoted without permission.
Speak to a doctor before starting structured training if you have any health risks. Stop riding and get help if you feel chest pain, dizziness or unusual breathlessness.

What could go wrong, said out loud.
- Strava API terms and athlete caps limit how fast we can grow
- One badly wrong estimate could cost a rider's trust
- Noisy heart-rate data, and two power sources that disagree
- Delays in Garmin and Strava access approvals
- App Store payment rules, if an iOS app ever sells subscriptions
